Alka builds a new factory in Ploiești Industrial Park

Alka Group, one of the leading food producers and distributors in the region, invests 11.5 million euros in the construction of a new production factory in Ploiesti.

The new production unit will be located in the Ploiesti Industrial Park and will cover a total surface area of 10,000 sqm. The factory assembly will comprise of a production hall, a raw materials warehouse, administrative offices and a factory store with a terrace as well. Overall, more than 25% of the entire site will be occupied by green spaces.

Of the 11.5 million euro investment, around 2.4 million derives from non-refundable public aid through the National Rural Development Program (RDP). In the first phase, the production facility will create around 100 jobs.

Alka Group’s business covers many categories and is present throughout Romania and beyond. The company’s portfolio consists of salted snacks, baked goods, and even coffee and sunflower seeds. Apart from the goods being produced by them, Alka also imports and is an active distributor, with Perfetti Van Melle for the Chupa Chups and Mentos brands.

In 2016, Alka Group registered a turnover of 155 million Lei and over 600 employees, finishing top 3 in many of the segments in which it operates.
